And what would happen if they participated in the proposal of initiatives to improve the efficiency of the service, if they paid waste management fees in accordance with waste generated and received incentives to foster sorting and waste prevention for reducing waste quantities and facilitating recycling?
Most probably, what would happen is that we could convert the current linear model into a new model based on the principles of the circular economy, a concept through which we would convert the origin of the problem into the solution.

In the framework of the demo day that was held on February 14th in Halandri (Greece), the pilots of the Waste4Think project have produced videos, available on the YouTube channel of the Project. Last 19th May, DeustoTech and Zamudio carried out the first Citizen Science activity in Zamudio to map, among others, waste collection facilities, households and local economic activities. During this activity, participants were divided in 9 different groups and, to collect the information and the corresponding coordenates, maps, gps and forms were used. Yesterday, June 29, 2017, the first draft of the educational materials designed for the Waste4Think project were presented at Vizcaya School. School centres could learn the structure of digital projects, the methodology proposed for the work in the classroom and an approximation to the contents. The consortium of the Waste4Think project will go to Seveso between June 8th and 9th to celebrate the 3rd Project meeting. The Seveso Pilot just introduced PAYT and is currently focusing on citizens sensitization and on the organization of summer eco-events with washable dishwares in order to reduce waste and improve the separate collection. O projeto Waste4Think será implementado no bairro da Quinta dos Lombos e Quinta de são Gonçalo. Ambos estão localizados perto da praia de Carcavelos e são maioritariamente residenciais, com alguns estabelecimentos comerciais e com uma grande procura por parte dos turistas. O projeto waste4Think será implementado no bairro da Quinta dos Lombos na freguesia de Carcavelos. Este projeto piloto envolve 1100 famílias (2500 cidadãos), onde se pretende implementar um sistema PAYT coletivo.
